Just had to write a quick blog update about this past week. Had to share how God was moving! This past week week's topic on the DTS was Lordship. It's about putting Jesus on the throne of our hearts and surrendering everything else that is not Him. Lordship week is about making Him Lord and not just our personal Saviour who we run to when times are hard. It's the transfer from believer to true disciple.
On Friday we had a ministry day from Friday at 8am - can you believe it? - 12am the following day. We went through the "temple" starting with entering his courts with thanksgiving and his gates with praise. Then we had a time of giving away something of worth to us. Josh gave away his surfboard and the same person he gave it to gave him a snowboard back! Crazy how that worked. And the amount of money we gave away was given in double back to us! His kingdom is definitely upside-down, especially when it comes to money!
Next, we entered a time of surrender, repentance, and a time of picking up new commitments to God. Many picked up new commitments to purity and to sobriety. How great is our God! Finally we had communion together and worshiped in the "holy of holies" as much freer people. God was on the move. God broke people out of their shells and they danced before the Lord and they praised him with all they had. Tears were shed as a people shared difficult things, but as sins were laid down, the shame lifted and joy erupted. Father God called us all deeper into his intimacy. When people fall greater in love with Him as Lord, they realize the stuff they used to run to is crap. This is what we have committed our lives to-- seeing captives set free so they can fully burn on fire for Him.
2 Chronicles 16:9 "For the eyes of the LORD range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him."
Next week is a week focused on Prayer. Message me or Josh if you have specific prayer requests we can be praying into. Everyone will have at least two three hour slots throughout the week to be praying, so we will have plenty of time! Thank you everyone who has been praying into our mission here. Your prayers are powerful and effective.
