Hi everyone,
It's been awhile since we've posted on here. A lot has been happening for sure and we've been really busy getting ready to leave! If you haven't heard we are flying out this Monday, August 3rd. Our tickets are purchased and we finally received our visas (which was a close call, thank you Jesus). We'll be arriving August 5 in the morning (super long flights and a lot of travel, not to mention Australia is 15 hours ahead!).
We had a successful Art & Music night. We were so blessed to have so many great friends contribute to the evening through the live music and all the art pieces as well. We were blown away to have so much art there and so many friends and family just come hang out and have a super chill evening together. We also raised $1300 which was awesome and we weren't expecting that! Even though we're still short on our finances, we've been overwhelmed by God's love and generosity and also friends and family that are contributing so much. Thank you all for your love and support!!
God has also blessed us with a small apartment ("flat" if you're in Australia) when we get there. It's part of the YWAM base housing but is a huge help and takes away a lot of stress of getting settled in and jumping into ministry right away. By the way, we're taking 7 suitcases down there! It sounds like a lot but we're downsizing tremendously and leaving a lot of stuff here. It's bittersweet to leave behind the place you've lived your whole life and friends and family who are here. It's very different from the traveling we've done before that is short term and you have a return ticket guaranteeing your arrival back in the states. We're already struggling with that and will have a hard time with that once we're down there.
Even though we are leaving we feel that it's a step into an awesome adventure with God. We know that it won't be easy, but God will be faithful in his promises and we desire to grow closer and closer to Him during this journey. If we don't grow closer to Him and we just desire to do ministry without relationship with Him, we will have nothing.
We're having a going away party tomorrow evening at 6pm at Amanda's parent's house that will be an open house more or less. The details are here: https://www.facebook.com/events/832557666858801/ . It will be our last chance to see friends as we are spending the last few days with family. We would love to see you there!
